Innovation in Leadership-The Transformation of Modern Management


Interactive management, the transformation of innovation in leadership, is subtle for the development of organizations. The companies that have mindset network of leaders who work in close connection, delegate authorities to their subordinates and work in team collaborations have high potential of growth. What is Innovation Leadership?
Innovation leadership is the management technique that allows synthesizing of several leadership styles to encourage employees to produce innovative ideas in all aspects of business.
As per one of the research conducted by Harvard Business Review, “Research: 10 Traits of Innovative Leaders” by Zenger, J. & Folkman, J. (2014, December 15) has spread light on one of the traits of innovative leaders, they put faith in an organization’s culture that amplifies upward communication. These leaders believe that ideas come from the first level, means such leaders are energetic and are always receptive to new ideas; they enjoy working in team and let their team come up with innovative ideas and share them on board. They encourage and welcome ideas from subordinates and provide guidance, which makes networks within the organization powerful and impactful.
In a book, “Sustainable Business Development: Inventing the future through strategy, innovation and leadership”, Rainey, D. L. (2006) has highlighted interactive management constructs that are enclosed in the global context of social, political, environment, economic and technology realities. In both the internal and external environments of organizations, the role of leadership is remarkable as they understand what their customers want and know that their team of innovative subordinates or employees will bring something exclusive in the form of products and services to meet the needs of global markets and all the stakeholders.
No matter of what size your business entity is, small, medium or large; each and every entity needs innovation in leadership to make it successful and giant one. The most important qualities innovative leaders possess are:
The Persuasive Behavior:
Innovative leaders are highly effective and full of impressive ideas that influence others to consent to brilliant ideas. They also persuade their employees and team members to contribute their best ideas into it.

Enthusiasm:

The leaders’ enthusiasm is remarkable; they not only move themselves but also motivate their team members. They back up their team in toughest and roughest of times and guide them and work with them to achieve their business targets.
Understanding of Customers:
They understand their customers and their needs. They are customer centric and research well about the needs and wants of their customers. They interact with their customers personally so that an environment of trust may be created between both the stakeholders.
Set Strategic Path Goals:
Innovative leaders set strategically driven objectives and goals for their teams. They also emphasize and motivate their employees from lower to upper hierarchy to contribute their best in the success of business.
Strong Focus:
These leaders have very strong focus; they know their path and the way to achieve their mission and vision. They not only keep eye on internal factors and resources, but have an eagle’s eye for external environmental factors as well.
Put Emphasis on Interactivity rather than being Isolated:
They believe in strengthening and centralizing the interactivity between cross-departments, internal and external groups. The more centralized organizational structure would be, the stronger the interaction management of network can be possible.
Delegation of Authority:
These leaders delegate authority, which gives their employees and team members a sense of responsibility. They welcome participation of subordinates so that the blood of organization flows at a good speed for their survival.

An innovative leader not only believes in itself but also believes in others to get the job done.
Possess Strong Intuition:
They possess strong intuition that leads them to use their subconscious powers to understand the market before competitors. Their instincts and gut feelings are strong and they prepare themselves and their organizations to adapt new technological changes quickly.
Risk Taker:
Innovative leaders are risk takers; they understand the boundaries of risks, do excellent exploratory research of the circumstances, hold solid view on socioeconomic and political aspects of their business’ environment and prepare for taking the risk. Such daring leaders can fight at the time of recession to cope up with the catastrophic business situations.
Effectively Communicate:
The most important quality of innovative leaders is effective communication. They try to reduce barriers by making the flow of communication smooth and quick.
Work in Team:
Most importantly, they work in team. They never treat their employees as their slaves; rather provide them the environment where they can enjoy the ultimate freedom to share thoughts and ideas for the betterment of organizations. They believe in work life balance and encourage such behavior in their team also for better results.

These leaders are great observers; they identify which team member is a great asset for an organization and how to treat him/her well so that he/she can produce excellent results. They are aware that what is good and bad. They can easily distinguish ethical acts and unethical acts. They highly focus on ethical considerations as it is the first step of delivering what you have promised to your stakeholders.

Conflict Management:
Innovative leaders are masters of conflict management. They chalk out the conflict as soon as it arises and try to remove it at initial stages. They know where to compromise and at what place have to take the stance.
Time Management:
They are punctual and manage their time accordingly. They rarely feel guilty of not completing their tasks; rather they take the step beforehand. They complete high and low priority tasks on time and accordingly. They know the fact that time is money, they never sit idle rather contribute highly for the prosperity of their businesses.
The innovative leaders promote innovation in leadership. They are the Transformers of Modern Management. They come up with potential and powerful ideas to implement in their organizations that become a part of industry norms. They are target achievers, are self-motivated and inspire others to bring the creative ideas on board. They are the harbingers of change, they never work in isolation, are future focused, and do not work for them, rather for societies and to let them grow.
