The professional attire plays an important role when it comes to entrepreneurship. However, the question arises that should you give priority on your dressing as an entrepreneur?
It depends for most of the people around the world. Yes, different entrepreneurs have different dressing styles, which are according to their national dress code. For example, Indian women prefer to wear Sari and Kurta is the attire of men. In China, women wear cheongsam or qipao (we call it Mandarin gown in English) and male wear Changshan. In Malaysia, women wear baju kurung and men baju melayu. In Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Middle Eastern countries most of the business men and entrepreneurs wear their national dress that is Thawb with Ghutrah (traditional keffiyeh headdress).
However, for businesses, the professional dressing style is formal dress comprising of suit or tuxedo, to be exact, or casual business dress. For entrepreneurs, if you are representing your country on international forums, wear your tradition dress on particular event, but on business events, like meetings and conferences, it’s better to dress formally and in business attire. Do not take Skype and Microsoft Lync meetings light and dress accordingly and as if you are having an in-person meeting.
You may get struck with the question of what to wear in case of meeting with the business having operations in other country or within the country, what should you wear? This will definitely base on the standard of other company. For example, if you are going to have a meeting with HP management, then you must research their dress code and dress accordingly. Then, you can easily dress up like them. Appearing at your meeting in a rugged shirt and pair of joggers will end up making you look unprofessional and a misfit for a business deal. Similarly, if you are going out for dinner for business deal in a five star hotel, get your Tuxedo ready.
On the other hand, if you are going for business meeting in a restaurant or a café shop, you can play between the lines of strictly formal and informal and dress casually. The successful entrepreneurs have strong sense of dressing, they are aware of the fact that their personality reflects in what they wear. They not only give priority to their dress but also to ties, shoes, hairstyle, belts, cufflinks, cell phone, perfumes and watches. They are the true leaders; clean, smartly dressed and possessing a healthy look. The way they talk, the way they eat or play games, everything reflects their brilliant personality, the thing that distinguishes them from followers.
For some entrepreneurs, dressing does not matter but successful entrepreneurs consider each and every thing and set perfect example by managing their personality from head to toe. They give serious considerations to outer look as well as to their behavior and attitude. As an entrepreneur, you are setting an example for others; therefore form your personality in a manner that is attractive, professional and fit to be exemplified.
